Justin Walters is a professional golf player born in 1980 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Justin is currently ranked 282nd in the world and plays mainly on the European Tour.
Justin, you turned pro more than 15 years ago. What is the most difficult part of being a pro golfer?
I find the constant travel hard on the body and mind. I’m in a different bed, country, time zone and away from family and friends for more than half the year.
When do you wake up in non tournament days and what’s your typical breakfast?
I don’t eat much breakfast on non tournament days. Generally go for a run or ride on the peloton bike followed by fruit or a meal replacement.
What about tournament days, do you have different diet?
I eat more on tournament days. I try to load up early on in the day then top up with food as the day goes on. I like omelettes, fruit, toast, and green tea.
Your favorite lunch?
I enjoy wraps, hamburgers, salads and tuna salad sandwiches.
More gym or more golf after lunch?
I generally don’t gym after lunch or golf unless I have my trainer with me to watch my form and build a constructive workout.
How do you prefer to spend your evenings?
Relaxing watching TV and spending time with my family.
What do you like to do when you are not on the course? Do you have a hobby?
I enjoy fly fishing for rainbow and brown trout. It’s the only thing I can do where I don’t think about golf.
Do you watch golf on TV when you are not playing?
Yes I do watch golf. Especially the majors if I’m not competing and the Ryder Cup.
Your favorite golf memory?
Making a 45 ft putt on the 18th hole final round of 2013 Portugal Masters to finish solo 2nd.
If you can win only one golf event, which one will you choose?
The Masters!
Have you ever been to Bulgaria?
No I have not, but I would definitely like to visit it one day.
Is there anything you want to share with your Bulgarian fans?
Golf is a wonderful game to share with friends and family. I encourage anyone to play more golf or try it if you have not played before.
