Collin Morikawa claimed his second major title after winning the 2021 Open Championship. The American posted final round 66 to finish the tournament at 15 under par. Third round leader Louis Oosthuizen posted final round 71 and as a result dropped to 11 under par and tied for third.
Final leaderboard:
This week Collin Morikawa made his debut at The Open. Last year he won the PGA Championship in his first appearance as well. Thanks to his triumph at Royal St George’s Golf Club Morikawa will climb to third in the world.
Another major disappointment for Louis Oosthuizen. The South African again finished just short and posted his eleventh top 10s finish in 51 major starts.
On the back nine today Jon Rahm showed why he is one of the best golfers on the planet. The Spaniard carded four birdies in a row and at some point it looked like he has a chance, but Morikawa didn’t make a mistake. Ram tied for third which will be enough to return on the top of the World Golf Ranking on Monday.
