American Brooks Koepka claimed fourth major title after he successfully defended his PGA Championship title. Koepka, who was leading the tournament since day one, started the last day with seven shots advantage and it looked like there won’t be any drama. However Dustin Johnson’s solid play and strong winds brought back life to the tournament. At some point Koepka’s lead was reduced to only one. This was a result from Koepka’s four bogeys in a row at the begging of the back nine. Meanwhile Johnson was playing at 3 under for the day through 15 holes. He was not able to keep the high standard and after bogeys on 16th and 17th he saw himself three shots behind the leader to finish solo second at six under par.
PGA Championship final leaderboard:
This was Brooks Koepka’s fourth major title in his last eight starts. In April he finished second to Tiger Woods at the Masters. From the active golf players on the main tours only Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson have more major titles than him.
Once again Dustin Johnson showed his inability to keep his concentration till the end of a round. Probably this cost him the title this week.
