Trevor Immelman (South Africa) was named International team captain for Presidents Cup 2021. Immelman takes the role from fellow South African Ernie Els who captained the International team in 2019. Immelman becomes the youngest captain in the history of the tournament whose first edition was in 1996. In 2021 the South African will be only 41 years old.
Trevor Immelman made his Presidents Cup debut in 2005 when he received one of the two captain’s wild card. He was part of the event in 2007 as well when he made the team on his own. In 2019 Immelman was one of the assistant captains who were helping Ernie Els. Immelman has two titles from the PGA Tour and four European Tour titles so far in his career. His biggest win came at the 2008 Masters which he won by three over Tiger Woods.
It is not clear yet who will lead the USA team at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte. It is expected the role to be given to the two-time major winner Zach Johnson. Johnson was of Tiger’s assistant captains in 2019.
