Sam Burns stays at the top before a marathon Sunday at Riviera

Sam Burns is leading the way at The Genesis Invitational after the third day of the tournament. The strong winds on Saturday made the course unplayable and the action was suspended for a few hours. As a result many players were not to able to complete their round. One of those players is the leader Burns. The American sits at the top with score of 10 under par for the tournament with five holes remaining from his third round. Matthew Fitzpatrick is solo second at eight under par. The Englishman was on the 18th tee when the official blew the horn to mark the end of play for the day. The third round will resume on Sunday at 06:50 local time. The final round will start around 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. local time.

How it stands:

The strong winds made the course a real challenge for the players. The best score so far for the round belongs to Matthew Fitzpatrick. The Englishman was at three under for the day when play was suspended.

Sam Burns was playing at two over for the day when the darkness made the course unplayable for the day. With a win tomorrow the young American will move inside the top 70 in the world and will secure his card for the next two seasons.
