Matthew Fitzpatrick remains at the top in Italy

Matthew Fitzpatrick once again showed his best golf on the closing holes at Olgiata GC to keep his lead at the 2019 Italian Open. Fitzpatrick birdied four of his final six holes on his way to  third round 68. The Englishman leads at 13 par and will start the final round with one-shot lead over the young Amerikcan Kurt Kitayama. Kitayama needed 65 shots to complete his round and will play in the final group tomorrow alongside Fitzpatrick.

Third round leaderboard:

Matthew Fitzpatrick has five European Tour titles under his belt, but he is still missing a win at a Rolex Series event. If he wins tomorrow this will be his first win since September 2018.

Kurt Kitayama already has two wins this season. In December he claimed maiden European Tour title at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. In March he won the title at Oman Open as well. Thanks to those wins he sits 125th in the world and 30th at Race to Dubai.
