Jason Day and Brendon Todd share the lead after the opening round of the 2020 PGA Championship. The duo sits at five under par after opening round 65. A group of nine players share third place, just a shot behind the leaders.
First round leaderboard:
Jason Day was struggling with his game in the last couple of years. Day, who is the winner in the tournament in 2015, had to deal with several injuries and family issues which affected his performance. Day’s last PGA Tour win came in May 2018. As a result of his bad performance the Australian dropped to 63rd in the world. Since the resumption of the PGA season Day looks reborn and carded three top 10 finishes in his last three tournaments.
It’ not a surprise that Tiger Woods got a lot of attention on Thursday. The former world number one posted first round 68. This sent him to shared 20th place at two under par.
Good start in the tournament for the 2010 champion Martin Kaymer. The German is in the group at four under par after opening round 66.
