American Gary Woodland posted phenomenal second round 65 and took the lead after the second day of the 119th U.S. Open. Woodland leads at nine under par, two shots ahead of first round leader and 2013 U.S. Open champion Justin Rose.
Second round leaderboard:
It’s not the first time we see Gary Woodland’s name at the top of the leaderboard in a major. He often contend during the first rounds, but usually fails to show his best golf during the weekends. His best performance in a major came at the 2018 PGA Championship when he finished 6th.
Good day at the office for six-time runner-up Phil Mickelson. Lefty posted second round 69 and he is at the group at one under par.
Another big favorite can also be satisfied with his performance on Friday. Rory McIlroy shares 4th place at five under par, only four behind the leader Woodland.
