Aaron Rai with the solo lead at Dubai Duty Free Irish Open

Aaron Rai took the solo lead at the 2020 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open before play to be suspended due to darkness. The second round at Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort started with almost two hours delay due to fog. Rai, who was one of the leaders after day one, managed to post second round 70 before it get dark. The Englishman leads at five under par and he is one clear of Dean Burmester, Robert Rock and Joakim Lagergren.

Current leaderboard:

Aaron Rai is looking for his second European Tour title. His maiden triumph was in November 2018 at the Hong Kong Open. Rai is in good form and he is yet to miss a cut since the resumption of the season. Since July he has played in six tournament and his best finish is a shared 10th place at the Hero Open.

Local hero Shane Lowry arrived in Ballymena as the big favorite for the win on Sunday. This is Lowry’s first start on home soil since he won The Open a year ago. Unfortunately the Irishman didn’t play his best golf and after rounds of 75 and 72 he most likely won’t make the cut. He shares 84th place at seven over par.
