Three players share the lead at Dubai Duty Free Irish Open

Dean Burmester, Aaron Rai and Jordan Smith lead the way after the opening round of the 2020 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open. They share the lead with score of five under par after first round 65. The course at Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort was a real test for the players and only 22 golfers managed to post a round in the red numbers.

First round leaderboard:

Dean Burmester missed a good chance to take the solo lead after day one. The South African was at seven under before to tee off on the 18th hole, but a double bogey on the last dropped him back to five under. Burmester has one European Tour title under his belt. It came in March 207 at the Tshwane Open.

European Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington returned to action after six months break. Harrington’s last appearance was in March at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which is part of the PGA Tour calendar. The Irishman posted a round of 71 today and as a result shares 38th place at one over par.

Justin Harding is one of the highest ranked players in the tournament. The South African is at two under after the first day in Northern Ireland and shares 10th place.
