We have seen epic battles decided by great shots over the years in the European Tour. We have selected our top 5 shots in the European Tour history.

5. Graeme McDowell

During the 2010 Ryder Cup Graeme McDowell became a hero after securing the winning putt for Team Europe. For the first time since 1991 the winner in the tournament had to be decided in the final match. McDowell was battling for Team European against Hunter Mahan for the Americans. McDowell sank this birdie putt on the 16th to go 2 up with two to go. He eventually won the match on the next hole to secure the win for the Europeans.

4. Miguel Ángel Jiménez

In 2015 Miguel Ángel Jiménez had the perfect start of his third round of the BMW PGA Championship. The Spaniard made hole-in-one on the par 3 second which was his tenth ace in his European Tour career. With this ace he topped that ranking breaking the previous record held by Colin Mongomerie who has nine aces in his career.

3. Shane Lowry

Shane Lowry had one shot lead with one hole to go during the final round of the 2015 WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Lowry needed just a par to win his maiden WGC title, but after he send his tee shot in the rough among the threes par started to look problematic. Instead to play safety and return on the fairway the Irishman attacked the green and sent his ball seven feet to the hole. He made the birdie putt and won the tournament with two shot advantage over Bubba Watson.

2. Colin Montgomerie

In the final round of the 1996 Omega Dubai Desert Classic Colin Montgomerie was sitting on the 18th tee with one shot lead over his partner in this round Miguel Ángel Jiménez. Montgomerie found the fairway just to see how his partner’s ball went 20+ yards past his. The Scot had no choice and attacked the green with his driver to produce one of the most impressive shots in the European Tour history.

1. Henrik Stenson

In 2013 Henrik Stenson was playing maybe the best golf in his career. The Swede won the Race to Dubai finishing the season with a win at the DP World Tour Championship. During the final round of the season ending tournament Stenson had solid lead walking the 18th fairway.
