Sungjae Im set the pace at the 2022 Masters

Sungjae Im took the early lead at the 2022 Masters after an opening round of 67. The South Korean golfer played solid golf and sits at five under par, one clear of the in-form Australian Cameron Smith. World number one Scottie Scheffler, former Masters champions Danny Willett and Dustin Johnson and the Chilean Joaquin Niemann share third place at three under par.

First round leaderboard:

World number 26 Sungjae Im is a two-time PGA Tour winner and he is playing his third Masters. It seems that Augusta National suits his game as he tied for second at the 2020 Masters.

With no surprise all the attention on Thursday was on former world number one Tiger Woods. The American made his first appearance since the car crash in February 2021. Woods showed solid golf and played the course at one under par. As a result he shares 10th place at one under par.
