Rory McIlroy wins the 2021 Wells Fargo Championship

Rory McIlroy returned to the winner’s circle after he claimed his third Wells Fargo Championship title. McIlroy posted final round 68 to finish the tournament with score of 10 under par, one clear of Abraham Ancer. Viktor Hovland climbed to solo third after the Norwegian played the course at four under par on Sunday.

This is Rory McIlroy’s 19th PGA Tour title and his first since November 2019. Thanks to it the former world number one returns inside the top 10 in the world. He is now ranked seventh, which is a jump with eight spots.

Abraham Ancer records another solid result on tour, but he is still looking for his maiden PGA Tour title. The Mexican posted the best score on Sunday after he needed only 66 strokes on the course. As a result Ancer climbed the leaderboard with five spots to solo second place.
