Romain Langasque claimed maiden European Tour title after winning the 2020 ISPS HANDA Wales Open. The Frenchman posted final round 65 to finish the tournament at eight under par. The 2020 Oman Open champion Sami Valimaki finished solo second at six under par after final round 69. Matthew Jordan and David Dixon, both from England, shared third place at five under par.
ISPS HANDA Wales Open final leaderboard:
Romain Langasque was one of the few players without dropped shots today. Langasque carded five birdies which climbed him with six spots on the leaderboard and secured him the title. Thanks to today’s triumph the Frenchman will move inside the top 100 at the Official World Golf Ranking from Monday.
It look like Sami Valimaki found the game that lead to his triumph in Oman in early March. Valimaki missed the cut in three of his four tournaments in which he played after his win in Oman. Last week the Finn shared sixth place at Celtic Classic which again was played at The Celtic Manor Resort.
Thomas Pieters was considered as the big favorite for the win before the start of the tournament. The Belgian was struggling from the tee all week and as a result shared 15th place on the final leaderboard with score of two under par.
