Phil Mickelson posted an impressive round of 63 in the second day of the 2020 Travelers Championship and took the solo lead with two rounds to go. The American started his round with a bogey on his second hole, but since then found his best golf and managed to card eight birdies which climbed him to 13 under par. Mickelson will start the third round with one shot lead over Will Gordon and first round leader Mackenzie Hughes.
Second round leaderboard:
Phil Mickelson turned 50 ten days ago, but it seems this doesn’t affect his game. Many times he has said that he still can compete against the best and yesterday’s round confirms it. Mickelson’s last PGA Tour was in February 2019 when he won his fifth AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Earlier this week the organizers of the U.S. Open announced the changes in the qualification process for this year edition of the tournament which secures Mickelson a sport at Winged Foot.
Will Gordon is in the field this week thanks to a sponsors invite. Gordon is ranked 561st in the world, but with a good finish this week he will make a big jump on the ladder.
