Marcus Kinhult birdied the last two holes to win his maiden European Tour at Betfred British Masters. The Swede started the day as co-leader alongside Matt Wallace, but he was not considered as a favorite. Kinhult put himself almost out of contention after bogeys on 14th and 15th, but he bounced back with birdies on the closing two holes. That climbed him to 16 under par which was enough for the win. Last year champion Eddie Pepperell, Matt Wallace and Robert MacIntyre shared second place a shot behind the leader at 15 under par.
British Masters final leaderboard:
This was Marcus Kinhult’s first European Tour title in 52 starts. Thanks to this win he secured his European Tour card for the next two seasons and climbed to 18th in Race to Dubai.
Kinhult’s winning putt:
Eddie Pepperell finished just short and didn’t manage to defend his title.
