The 2016 Open champion Henrik Stenson posted final round 66 and with score of 18 under par claimed the title at the 2019 Hero World Challenge. The defending champion Jon Rahm finished solo second at 17 under par, just a shot behind the winner. Patrick Reed climbed with the spots at the leaderboard to finish solo third after final round 66.
Hero World Challenge 2019 final leaderboard:
This is Stenson’s first PGA Tour title since August 2017. The Hero World Challenge doesn’t give points for the different PGA Tour rankings, but still this is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the calendar. The tournament gives plenty of points for the world ranking and it has limited field of 18 players.
Jon Rahm should be happy with his title defense. Thanks to the points won he will get closer to Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy who are in front of him in the world ranking.
Tournament host Tiger Woods also can take a lot of positives from this week. Woods took the lead after three birdies on the first seven holes on Sunday. Poor play on the back nine left him behind and he finished fourth in the final standings.
