Nacho Elvira and 2016 champion Marcus Fraser share the lead after the opening day of the 2019 Maybank Championship at seven under par. Both Fraser and Elvira started in the morning session and were able to show their skills in much better conditions. During the day the wind increased and the afternoon starters had to deal with much more difficult conditions which is proved by the scores on the leaderboard.

Solid start from Scott Hend as well. The Aussie is at three under par and as a results he is four shots behind the leaders Nacho Elvira and Marcus Fraser.
