Connor Syme and Jordan Smith share the lead after the opening round of the 2020 ISPS HANDA Wales Open. The duo sits at five under par, two clear of a group of four players that shares third place.
First round leaderboard:
It looks like the course suits Connor Syme’s game. Last week Syme share third place at Celtic Classic which was played on the same course. Connor Syme joined the European Tour in 2018 but was not able to keep his card. As a result the Scot played mostly on the Challenge Tour in 2019 where he earned his European Tour card for this season.
Thomas Pieters is the highest ranked golfer in the field this week. The big hitting Belgian is ranked 72nd in the world and posted opening round 69. He shares seventh place at two under par.
It is the same course, but totally different setup.
