Callum Shinkwin won dramatic maiden European Tour title

Callum Shinkwin claimed maiden European Tour title after winning the 2020 Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Open in a playoff. Shinkwin finished his round with birdie-eagle to climb to 20 under par for the tournament. His score was matched by Kalle Samooja who also finished the tournament at 20 under par. The winner was decided on the first extra hole which was won by Shinkwin with birdie. Robert Macintyre, Garrick Higgo and third round leader Jamie Donaldson shared third place at 18 under par.

Today’s win is the first for Callum Shinkwin in 112 European Tour starts. Thanks to it Shinkwin moves to 51st in Race to Dubai. He will climb within the top 170 in the world where he started the week ranked 332nd.

Kalle Samooja posted another 64 today which was enough for a place in the playoff. This was Samooja’s birdie putt on the 72nd hole.
