Viktor Hovland claimed his maiden European Tour title after winning the 2021 BMW International Open. The Norvegian posted final round 70 to finish the tournament at 19 under par. Local favorite Martin Kaymer finished second, two behind the winner. Spaniard Jorge Campillo completed the top three after final round 71.
BMW International Open 2021 final leaderboard:
This is Viktor Hovland’s first European Tour title and it comes in his 16th start. That’s not a surprise considering the fact that the Norwegian plays mainly on the PGA Tour. Hovland is the first golfer from Norway with a win on the European Tour. Thanks to his triumph in Munich Hovland will move to 9th on Race to Dubai.
Great week for local hero Martin Kaymer. The German played the course at eight under par today which was the best result for the day. Kaymer has 11 wins under his belt, but hasn’t won since the 2014 U.S Open.
