Tom Lewis (England) and Matthias Schwab (Austria) lead the way after the opening day of the 2019 Turkish Airlines Open. The duo leads at seven under par after carding rounds of 65. Ryder Cup stars Alex Noren and Thomas Pieters share third place alongside two times European Tour winner David Lipsky.
Third round leaderboard:
Matthias Schwab has great season, but he is still looking for his maiden European Tour title. In 2019 the Austrian recorded eight top 10 finishes, but the fact that he has only four rounds on level par or worse from his last 32 rounds is more impressive.
Justin Rose should be happy with the start of his title defense. Former world number one posted first round 67 and shares sixth place at five under par.
Montgomerie Maxx Royal is a course which perfectly suits Thomas Pieters game. All par fives are reachable in two and that is a huge advantage for the big hitting Belgian. Today Pieters carded one eagle and four birdies on his way to opening round 66.
