Italian Renato Paratore (on the phone) and South African Shaun Norris took the lead after the opening day of the 2020 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. The duo sits at eight under par after 64 in a round marked by low scoring. The golfing conditions were great and 80 players managed to play the course on par, or better. One of them is the world number one Brooks Koepka. The American played the course on six under par today. He shares third place alongside Australian Jason Scrivener.
First round leaderboard:
Renato Paratore should be happy with the start of his new season. The Italian finished second at Afrasia Bank Mauritius Open after a three men playoff and now leads in the first Rolex Series event of the year.
Brooks Koepka came as the big favorite this week and he didn’t disappoint. The American carded six birdies without to drop a shot.
This week tournament is more special than usual for Søren Kjeldsen. It’s tournament number 600 for the Dane in the European Tour. Kjeldsen turned pro in 1995 and since then won four times on tour. His was title came at the 2015 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.
