Scott Hend from Australia claimed his third European Tour title after winning the 2019 Maybank Championship. Hend showed some impressive golf today and posted final round 67 to finish the tournament at 15 under par. This matched third round leader Nacho Elvira’s result who also finished at 15 under par after final round 70. Elvira was on the fairway on the 18th hole when play was suspended due to thunderstorm. After almost two hours he came back on the 18th green and made one of the most impressive birdies in his career. He drained 30ft putt to force a play-off with the clubhouse leader Scott Hend. However Hend secured the victory after a birdie on the first extra hole compared to a par from Elvira.
Maybank Championship final leaderboard:
Scott Hend’s last European Tour title was in 2017 when he won the
Omega European Masters in Switzerland.
This is Nacho Elvira’s birdie put on the 18th hole. However he was not able to get the job done in the play-off and will have to wait for his first European Tour title.
Good week for the veteran Ernie Els who shared 7th place at 10 under par.
