Brilliant Rasmus Hоjgaard won the 2020 ISPS HANDA UK Championship after an impressive final round. The Dane played the course at seven under par today to finish the tournament at 14 under par. This score was matched by yesterday’s leader Justin Walters. Walters had a very dynamic day on the course which he managed to play with 70 strokes. As a result the duo had to go to the 18th tee once again to determine the winner. He was decided on the second extra hole won by Hоjgaard. The young Dane made an easy par while Walters had to settle with a bogey after poor second shot which found the right rough. Martin Kaymer and Benjamin Hebert shared third place at 13 under par.
ISPS HANDA UK Championship final leaderboard:
Rasmus Hоjgaard has played in only 12 European Tour tournaments, but already won two times. Thanks to today’s win Hоjgaard climbs to 4th at Race to Dubai and will move inside the top 80 at the Official World Golf Ranking. He started the week ranked 104th in the world.
The Dane started the day five shots back, but with strong finish climbed to the top of the leaderboard. He finished birdie-eagle-par which was enough to secure him a place in the playoff.
Justin Walters again finished just short. He made triple bogey 7 on the par 4 eight which was very expensive. No one managed to win a tournament on the European Tour this season after a triple bogey in the final round.
