Paul Waring finished his round with an eagle-birdie to take the lead after the opening round of the 2022 Cazoo Classic. The Englishman sits at the top of the leaderboard with a score of nine under par, two clear of Garrick Porteous. Four players are at six under par and share third place.
First round leaderboard:
Paul Waring already has one DP World Tour title under his belt. It came at the 2018 Nordea Masters. The Englishman started the tournament ranked 586 in the world, but a win this week will climb him inside the top 250.
Eddie Pepperell has won twice on the DP World Tour, but his last triumph was four years ago. Pepperell, once ranked 32nd in the world, doesn’t play his best golf and as a result dropped to 619th in the world. The Englishman missed the cut in four of his last five tournaments.
