Rory McIlroy proved that he is the hottest golfer on the planet right now and won the title at the 2019 The Players Championship. McIlroy finished at 16 under par after final round 70 which was enough to win by one over Jim Furyk. Furyk won his place at the Players in the last moment, but it seems this was not a problem at all for the 17-times PGA Tour winner who finished solo second at 15 under par. Jhonattan Vegas and tournament rookie Eddie Pepperell shared third place at 14 under par.
The Players Championship final leaderboard:
This was McIlroy’s 24th international title and his 15th PGA tour win.
As a result of his victory McIlroy will move to 4th in the world. He has now six top 10 finishes in a row.
It’s nice to see Jim Furyk back in contention. The USA Ryder Cup 2018 Captain was struggling with different injuries in the last couple of years.
