South African Justin Walters posted opening round 63 to take the lead after the first day of the 2019 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Walters leads at nine under par after nine birdies and no dropped shots on the Old Course at St. Andrews today. Four players share second place at eight under par, just a shot behind the leader Justin Walters. Last night rain made the three courses much easier and this affected the scores. Today 139 golfers posted a round at level par or better.

The shot of the day belongs to Lee Westwood. The Englishman made a hole-in-one on the par 3 8th at Carnoustie. Westwood sits at three under par and shares 53rd place.
Rory McIlroy is one of the big favorites this week. He had an interesting day on the course in which he carded a bogey, one double bogey and five birdies. McIlroy shares 79th place at two under par.
