David Law (Scotland) took the early lead at the 2020 Betfred British Masters after a sensational opening round. The Scot carded seven birdies on his way to first round 64 and will start the second round with one shot advantage over a group of four players.
First round leaderboard:
David Law already has a win on the European Tour. In February 2019 he claimed the title at ISPS Handa Vic Open after a serious battle with Wade Ormsby and Brad Kennedy.
Today was a special day for Miguel Angel Jimenez. The Spaniard recorded his 706th European Tour appearance and ties Sam Torrance’s record for most starts on Tour. Jimenez shares 18th place at three under par after opening round 68.
Tournament host Lee Westwood had mixed emotions on the course today. The Englishman carded five birdies and four bogeys for first round 70. Westwood shares 50th place on the current leaderboard at one under par.
