Schauffele, Matsuyama and McIlroy in the mix for the medals in Tokyo

Xander Schauffele leads the way after the third round of the Olympic Men’s Golf Competition. The American sits at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 14 under par after he played the course at three under par today. Schauffele will take a one-shot lead into the final round over the home favorite Hideki Matsuyama. Paul Casey and Carlos Ortiz are at 12 under par and share third place.

How it stands with one round to go

One of the best rounds of the day belongs to Tommy Fleetwood. The Englishman played the course at seven under par and as a result climbed to 10 under par for the tournament. Fleetwood is tied for ninth before the final round.

Hideki Matsuyama hasn’t posted any impressive results since his triumph at Augusta in early April. This week Matsuyama is very consistent and it won’t be a surprise if we see him with the golf medal tomorrow.
