South African Erik van Rooyen claimed his maiden European Tour title after a dramatic win at the 2019 Scandinavian Invitation. Van Rooyen finished the tournament at 19 under par after final round 64. The South African had two shots advantage with two holes to go, but after a bogey on the 17th and a birdie from Matthew Fitzpatrick on the 18th he saw his lead gone and both were tied at the top. Then on the 18th Erik van Rooyen sank his 10 footer birdie putt to win his maiden European Tour title. Matthew Fitzpatrick finished solo second at 18 under par after final round 64. Local favorite Henrik Stenson shared third place at 14 under par alongside Dean Burmester.

Thanks to this week victory Erik van Rooyen will get closer to the top 50 at the Official World Golf Ranking. He moves to 9th at Race to Dubai ranking as well.
