Brilliant Louis Oosthuizen won the home title at South African Open

Louis Oosthuizen posted final round 67 and with score of 18 under par for the tournament won the 2018 South African Open. Louis Oosthuizen started the day three shots clear and kept the lead during the whole final round. Romain Langasque from France posted final round 66 which climbed him to solo second on the final leaderboard at 12 under par. Oosthuizen didn’t hide his emotions after the end of the tournament and said:

“I knew today was either going to be very special or heartbreaking. I know there’s only a few that have won The Open and the SA Open so I’m very chuffed to have my name on this. We had a tough start today and my caddie just told me, ‘you’re swinging it well, just go for it’. I just got back to basics, to try and hit fairways and greens. I know I’m putting well, I just needed to give myself putting opportunities for birdie.”

Final leaderboard:

This is Louis Oosthuizen’s first European Tour win since February 2016.

Louis Oosthuizen’s triumph at the event is the first South African win since 2016 when Brandon Stone won the tournament.

Madalitso Muthiya didn’t manage to become the first player from Zambia with an European Tour title but still he had a very good week in South Africa.
