Victor Perez (France) leads after the opening round of the 2019 Andalucia Valderrama Masters. Perez made no mistakes today and after six birdies leads at six under par. Five players are just a shot behind the leader and share second place at five under par. Last year champion and tournament host Sergio Garcia is in that group as well. Conditions were perfect for golfing today and 72 golfers played the course on par or better.
First round leaderboard:
Victor Perez is still looking for his maiden European Tour title, but he put himself in a great position after the opening round.
Garcia is not in his best form, but once he step on Valderrama tees he always manages to find his best game. His record at this event is very impressive. Garcia has three wins in five stars and he has never been outside the top 10.
World number 11 Jon Rahm is the other big favorite this week. Rahm posted first round 69 and shares 21st place at two under par.
