The strong winds at Yas Links made the course a very tough test for the best golfers in the world during the second round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship 2022. Yesterday’s leader Scott Jamieson played the course at two over par, but this was enough to keep his lead. He sits at the top one clear of James Morrison, Ian Poulter and Viktor Hovland. From this group only James Morrison was not able to complete his round as play was suspended due to darkness.
How it stands after day two:
Alexander Björk was one of the few golfers who played the course under par today. The Swede posted second round 71 and as a result climbed the leaderboard with seven spots to shared fifth place at five under par.
Rory McIlroy produced some fireworks today, but he played the course at three over par and trails the leader by ten shots.
It’s always nice to see veterans like Colin Montgomerie back on the DP World Tour. The Scot, 58, was going very well on his front nine, but lost the momentum on the back nine and posted a round of 77. Montgomerie missed the cut, but showed that he still has the game to compete with the new generation.
