Phenomenal Lee Westwood leads the way in Scotland

Lee Westwood posted opening round 62 and with score of nine under par leads the way after the first round of the 2020 Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open. Joost Luiten and Alexander Bjork also had a good day at the office and they are just a shot behind the leader. The cold Scottish weather didn’t affect much the scores and 71 golfers managed to play the course on par or better.

First round leaderboard:

Lee Westwood didn’t make any mistakes today and managed to card two eagles and five birdies. If he lift the trophy this will be his second Rolex Series win for the year. In January he won his 25th European Tour title in Abu Dhabi. A win this week would be special for the Englishman who has his son on the bag for the tournament.

Ian Poulter was in Westwood’s group and also produced some highlights today. After day one Poulter shares 12th place at four under par.

Today Paul Lawrie announced that this will be his last tournament on the main circuit. The 1999 Open champion has played in 620 European Tour events and has eight titles under his belt.
