Justin Rose and Harold Varner III lead the way at Charles Schwab Challenge

Former world number one Justin Rose and American Harold Varner III lead the way after the opening round of the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge. The duo showed great golf and sit at the top of the leaderboard with score of five under par. The day was marked by very low scoring and 93 players managed to play the course on par or better.

First round leaderboard:

Harold Varner III has been a part from the PGA Tour for years, but he is still looking for his maiden tour title. He has one professional win under his belt which came at the 2017 Australian PGA Championship which was part of the European Tour schedule.

Earlier this week Justin Rose and his wife Kate announced that they will sponsor series of tournaments in UK to support women’s golf. Rose’s last PGA Tour title came in January 2019 at the Farmers Insurance Open.

One of the nice surprises of the day came from the 1995 champion Tom Lehman. Lehman (61) posted opening round 65 after five clear birdies. He sits at five under par and shares seventh place in the current leaderboard.
