Jordan Smith from England took the lead after the opening round of the 2019 Trophée Hassan II. Smith made seven birdies and didn’t drop a shot on his way to 7 under par. Only a shot behind are the 2014 champion Alejandro Cañizares and American Sean Crocker. Once again Royal Golf Dar Es Salam proved his reputation of one of the toughest golf courses on tour and only 30 players posted score in the red numbers.
First round leaderboard:
Stephen Gallacher finished birdie – double eagle – birdie to finish at 5 under par. As a result he is only two shots behind the leader Jordan Smith. This is Gallacher’s first tournament since his win in India three weeks ago.
Alejandro Cañizares know what is necessary to win this tournament. In 2014 he won by five shots over Andy Sullivan.
